DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

You can use your insurance if your benefits plan offers coverage for out-of-network providers. Most plans provide this coverage. You will need to contact your insurance company to determine your reimbursement coverage. I recognize that filing insurance claims can be confusing at times, and, if you wish, I will provide a monthly statement containing all necessary information (coding, diagnosis, dates of service, signature, etc.) for that purpose. You may then file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement.

Please be aware that I have no control over the confidentiality of your information once it is received by your insurance company.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

You can leave a confidential message on my phone anytime: (817) 891-1314. I will return your call as soon as possible.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long although longer times may be reserved if agreed on in advance.

Sessions are by appointment only and are scheduled to meet your needs.

WHAT IS THE FREE PHONE CONSULT ALL ABOUT?

In the consult, I attempt to get a basic understanding of your concerns and hopes for seeking therapy now. It is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I see therapy and to see if you feel comfortable with me and the way I work. Since the process and outcome of therapy are so connected to the therapy relationship, it is important that the decision to work together is mutual.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN SESSIONS WITH YOU?

In the first session, I will work to develop an understanding of both the concerns and hopes that bring you to therapy and to get an initial sense of how I can be helpful to you. Near the end of the session I will give you my assessment of issues blocking your world and how I can help you feel more comfortable with yourself and get in better sync with the world. This will provide you with an opportunity for you to ask questions, get a sense of how I see your therapy progressing and how this matches with what you are looking for.

HOW CAN THERAPY HELP ME?

Therapy addresses the personal issues, relationship difficulties, and the life challenges that everyone faces at times.

It provides both a supportive as well as challenging space to initiate change in your life. Some of the benefits of therapy my clients have mentioned include: increased feelings of well-being, improved relationships, higher self-esteem, enhanced physical health through reduction of stress, and greater clarity about their purpose and direction in life.

HOW LONG WILL THERAPY TAKE?

This is a completely reasonable question to ask, and it is one of the hardest to answer.

The simplest answer is that it ends when you feel that you have completed the work you came to therapy to do. This decision is always ultimately in your hands. The typical range of the number of sessions for clients is 10 to 20 sessions

WHAT ARE YOUR CREDENTIALS AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND FOR DOING THERAPY?

How much experience do you have as a therapist?
I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a Master’s in Social Work. I have more than 20 years of experience in working as a therapist with a wide variety of issues including addiction, abuse, depression, anxiety, couples LGBT, relationship issues, physical health, intimate relationship violence, and trauma.  I now specialize in and have extensive training in working with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I have supervised therapist interns and practicing therapists and taught therapy process in graduate school.

WHY GO TO THERAPY?

Because therapy works!
Therapy has been scientifically proven to be effective, and when you make the commitment to partner with a therapist you will see change and results faster and easier than attempting this transformation on your own.
There is power in talking and sharing your story and struggles with someone else.  The stories we use to organize our world also limit of options. controlling. Change happens when you begin to connect what you are thinking and feeling to what you are doing in your life.  All of it is important- your thoughts, your emotions, and your behaviors- and therapy is where we can connect the dots and empower you to make lasting change in your life.

HOW LONG WILL I BE IN THERAPY? OR, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

Honest truth: it’s different for everyone. The goal is not to adopt you as a therapy client forever, but to help you accomplish your goals and transform your life. Therapy is a process that requires time, effort, and most importantly your commitment to making lasting change in your life.

You will get the best and quickest results by attending therapy sessions regularly.  This is especially important in the beginning as we get to know one another and build trust between us.  When you commit to taking consistent action toward your goals, you will see results.   The pain and struggle you are feeling right now don’t have to stay in your life forever.  Therapy is a way out of that pain and struggle. Therapy is worth it.  You are worth it.

WHAT ARE YOUR THERAPY SESSIONS LIKE?

Your therapy sessions will look and feel like a conversation with a purpose. There is no set agenda for the week. If you have something specific you want to talk about and work through, great!  Let’s talk about that. I’ll ask questions. You think and respond. If do not have something to talk about, that’s okay too. I will guide the conversation and keep us on track. You just need to show up and be open to exploring what comes up.

I will provide education on topics as the need arises, along with exploring different exercises and activities that you can work on outside of our weekly sessions. The goal is to take what you learn in those minutes in the session and apply it to your daily life.

My clients have said that they leave sessions feeling: relieved, lighter, hopeful, optimistic, more energized, motivated, and empowered.  Those 50 minutes are powerful and life changing.

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

I am considered out-of-network with most insurance companies. Some of my clients utilize their out-of-network (OON) insurance benefits and are reimbursed for a portion of their out of pocket costs. I am able to provide you with the appropriate documentation required to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement (called a Superbill).

The best way to determine what your insurance benefits would be for therapy is to call your insurance company directly. You can usually find the number on the back of your insurance ID card (if there’s a specific Behavioral Health number, call that one). When you call ask about your “outpatient, out-of-network, mental health benefits”.
